SCRAPWHISPER BLOG HOP!!!!

Hello there! Its really good to see you've stopped by. If you have come here first and have no idea what I am about to talk about click here to go back to the Scrapwhispers blog for full details. Our blog hop this month is a little bit different. We wanted to go back to the beginning and the main aim of the main part of our challenge blog which is of course, the Scrap Whisper. Scrapwhispers is all about scraplifting but seeing how true the chain layouts stya to the original. It's a scrapbooking version of Chinese Whispers or Telephone. Georgina has challenged us this month, to scrap lift one of her fab layouts.

I decided to use Georgina's layout as a sketch. But I rotated it as well, just by a quater turn so I could use portrait photos. I've obviously changed the colours used but the embellies are the same as in the sketch. My layout is based on the Rebus Trail I went on in Edinburgh. I'm a little obsessed with Ian Rankin's fictional Character Inspector Rebus and all his stories, so of course I couldn't pass on the opportunity to see some of the places from the books. I used papers from Echo Park "Be mine" collection to show they don;t have to be for slushy, lovey dovey layouts.

I hope you can the similarity between the layouts and I really can't wait to see how you interpret Georginas.

Hello Strangers

Woah! Has it really been a whole MONTH since I last blogged??? My goodness time really does fly. Things have been a lot crazy around here, thats pretty much all I can say. But now I'm back and have have refound my mojo, which is playing hide and seek alot recently. I thought I'd get stuck in with a Tiddly Inks challenge. I absolutely adore their images and because they are digital I don't have to get my hands dirty as such. I just love how versatile they are too. This weeks challenge is to use stitching. You can see on the close up that I used a fine liner pen to draw faux stiches around the edges of the card. Isn't this image so cute?? And, is right in line with the glorious weather we are having right now. And yep, that is real sand on the bottom of the sand castle. I had to sneak it from the kids sand pit :) they don't mind really. Its just they try to copy and end up bringing buckets of sand into the house :s Thanks for popping in and I promise I won;t stay away so long next time.

Scrapwhispers - Buttons! Its all about the buttons!

Remember that sneak peak I gave you last week when I showed my flowers I;d made from Rosey's fab tutorial?? Well, here it is. Not only does it contain the gorgeous flowers that we showed you how to make on our blog hop, but also the requirement of this weeks challenge. 20 buttons minimum on your pages. Difficult?? Not as it would at first seem. I recently found some teensy, weensy buttons by papermania and I've used 20 of them to frame the pic of DD, who incidently, absolutely must have her hair just like teacher, every day for school!! How cute is that! (BTW: teacher has since changed styles due to nearly every girl recreating her style on a daily basis.. but DD lives in hope it will go back to the side ponytail, bless her!) Anyway back to the challenge. So 20 buttons on your layout for this weeks, but don't forget we still have our dance challenge and our headshots challenge and of course, our blog hop. BLOG HOP!!!!!

It's time again for the Scrapwhispers blog hop, where every 15th of the month the DT members take turns in creating a little project, tutorial for you to join in with us. This Month is the wonderful Rosey's turn. Rosey has come up with some fab handmade flower ideas. I just love making handmade flowers, I think that they give my layouts and cards just that little va-va-voom... :0)Rosey has shown us how to make a flower using torn heart shapes, some perfect little daisies, by snipping along a strip of paper and simply rolling it into position. The ones I've made have come from scraps of Echo Park papers and I've put them onto a layout that you'll just have to wait to see (sorry!) I love how you can still see the pencil mark on my heart flower, just lifts it off the page a little bit more without inking the edge. Rosey has also shown us how to do these beautiful rolled roses. You long time readers will know that I adore these flowers and use them quite a bit in my work, but I've never torn the paper before. I am loving the effect it gives and that you can bend the petals a bit to make it more realistic. I've put these roses onto a box card, and again they were made from scraps of papers from echo park. To go with the torn theme, also tore some leaves, pinching them with my fingers to give them a veiney look. Heres the box inside the card. Its a good job, Mum doesn't read this blog or she'll catch a glimpse of her mothers day card, LOL :) I really hope you are having a great time hopping along with us, thank you so much for joining in. Personally I don't have any particular style, I generally just throw things onto a page and it seems to work, LOL :0) What is yours???

Scrapwhispers - Headshots

Scrapwhispers challenge this week... Head shot photos of PEOPLE. No objects or animals, only people. If you are anything like me, you shouldn't have a problem in finding a photo like that of a loved one of even one of those cheesy arm length photos... I can never manage that... always end up cutting someones face in half :) LOL My layout is another of DD and how we queued up for what seemed an eternity for her to get her face painted. She was queing and sat down on a bench, letting all the others go past her, til I figured out what was taking so long! LOL. But the result was lovely, the best face painting she's ever had... My little madame butterfly!

Its Scrapwhispers challenge time again! This week we are challenging you to be inspired by dance. Any kind of dance... Ballet, salsa, line dancing, hip hop, ballrooom.. whatever it is we want to see you shaking your thing! My layout is of DD learning some bollywood dance moves at school for India week. She looked so cute all dressed up in my old sarong - ahem! I mean Sari :) For this page I also followed the tutorial from Shimelle's 4x4 photo love at 2 peas in a bucket. What is making you move to the beat? Come and show us!!

4 minutes to find a lucky star

I am so late in posting this! (That seems to be a given these days) Scrap it with a songs latest challenge is a fun one. We have shaken things up a bit and we are now giving you the choice of 2 songs to work with over a fortnight. This fortnights songs are a Madonna medley, a battle of the decades, with "4 Minutes", the duet with Justin Timberlake, and "Lucky Star". I saw Madonna live about 5 years ago and it wasn't what I was expecting. It was ok, but not worth the mega amount of money the tickets cost. The photo I;ve used on my layout was taken from the screen in the arena. Photos were not allowed for the show. So which one which one will you choose? The eighties or the noughties? or both?? Have fun!!
