Scrapwhispers Blog Hop

LOTV challenge - Button it!

Another card for the Lili of the valley challenge - button it. Quite a simple card using the adorable ballerina stamp from LOTV, papers are from crate paper neighbourhood collection. The charm is from an old bracelet I found in a charity shop and the button is from an old top of DD's. On the hair of the ballerina, I've glued a bead that was on a mobile phone charm that had broken... this is actually quite a thrifty card. I hadn't realised til I was writing this, LOL!!! Am very proud of myself now for all the upcycling I'm doing! ha!!

Simon Says... Anything goes

So I broke out my Gorjus Girl stamp "Family", stamped onto another piece of my linen trousers I've already mentioned, and turned it into a hanging scented cushion. Of course, it's been blagged by DD as a 'Got to have that in my room mummy'. This is being entered into the Simon says challenge this week :)

Colour Create -

Heres a card I;ve made for the latest Colour Create challenge - Lime, Aqua and White with the added optional extra of Texture. I've used Echo park Seasons Greetings papers, I ruffled the ribbon by pulling green thread through the white grosgrain and I've added a few beads onto the "snow" drops. For extra texture I've cross hatched on the fluffy part of the coat, you can't really see that on the photo :( The image is from LOTV, one of their new releases. Thanks for popping in.

Scrapwhispers - Sketch challenge

Like Sketches?? Well, then you will love the challenge we have got for you this week. Our very own, fabulous Rosey has come up with a sketch for you to follow. This is my take on the sketch which can be found here, with further inspiration from our wonderful DT. Scrap it with a song - Yellow

"Look at the stars.. look how they shine for you...." Yep, Coldplay's 'yellow' is the song choice for the rock chicks this week at Scrap it with a song. A beautiful song, with PLENTY of Scrapability!! I did a card for this challenge, in yellow, and in a star shape to fit the opening lyrics. I saw Coldplay live a few years ago and they were incredible. This song was done acousticly... and was just wow! How will this song inspire you? Less is more

This card was made for the latest Less is more challenge, where anything CAS goes. The stamp is from LOTV, and I've paper pieced the "boat", the "water" and the sail. I then hand drew the border and wrote the sentiment. This card is about to be sent off to OZ for a friend of mine who has had a little boy :) Thanks for stopping by!

Scrapwhispers - Scraplift

Another weekly challenge from Scrapwhispers is live! This weeks challenge is a scraplift. This is what Scrapwhispers is all about.. scraplifting. And this week we are lifting a layout from Design Team member Helen. This is my take on the layout. Lili of the Valley challenge - Red, white and Green

After admiring the LOTV stamps for an age, I fonally bought some from the new christmas release in the hope that I would find my card making mojo again. And I am happy to say that I did find it! This stamp is called "oh Christmas Tree". It's just so cute! Instead of stamping on card, I had a pair of linen trousers, which I should have taken back to the shop, as they didn't fit me right, but I did what any other decent minded crafter would have done and stamped on them! I sewed around the edge of the image and then frayed it slightly. I've coloured in the image using my Pro Markers and a white gel pen, just to highlight certain parts. I've used a variety of scraps of paper on this card to make the roses and other decoration. A simple card but I do like the overall effect. This one is being entered into the LOTV challenge. Cake

I was asked by my neighbour if I could make an army themed cake. She wanted soldiers running up a hill but her daughter absolutely knackered at the top. At first I had such a simple idea in my head and thought... easy enough. Ha! Ha! Anyone who knows me, knows I do not and cannot do easy and simple. I always manage to make hard work for myself. So I baked 5 cakes, 1 square, 4 round, and I was just going to cut small bits out. But then I started hacking away and layering it so it looked more like a mountain than a hill! Then I had to ice it. The only way was to piece the icing on in small manageable pieces. I purposely left a gap on the second from top layer to make a little stream, with a little walkway going across it, and had it coming out at the bottom... as i think they do.? And here is the finished product. My neighbour was absolutely thrilled. And I have to say I am rather proud of this one. Being only my 6th cake and my first ever sculpted cake, I think it came out rather well. I think I like making cakes. :) Have a great weekend!

Scrapwhispers, we are back with a Colour challenge!!

Happy Weekend!!! Scrapwhispers is back and we have bought back our weekly challenges, yay!!! We are mixing things up a little and to start off we have a delectable colour challenge for you. Brown, Pink and green. All we want to see is a scrapbook layout in any size at all, with these colours. Too easy!

Here's my layout of my loopy cat, who likes nothing more than curling up in a flower pot. No matter what the weather, we will always find him there. On my layout I've used a number of scrap pieces I had laying around and in doing so I've kept the photo and all of the simple elements central. Not only do we have this fab challenge, we also have a very awesome prize on offer for the month of September, but you have to be in it to win it! Scrapwhispers Blog Hop

Hello there! This months blog hop comes courtesy of our lovely Nilsa who has a simple but very useful tutorial for us. Its back to school time for all of us so why not decorate and personalise some composition notebooks for the little ones in your life? Or indeed for yourself or as a gift for someone else? I started out with this A6 sized notebooks. A pack of 6 for just 80p :). I used some scraps I had to cover them up. The papers are a mix of Echo park and MME. I did a personal one for DD and the others I thought I could use myself for little scrapbooking ideas and notes/ quotes. So there you have it. So easy but so fun too!
