Scrapwhispers at the office

Hello! I'm so late in posting this, not been 100% over the weekend. Just really tired and for no reason. Anyway, the latest challenge at Scrapwhispers is to use office supplies on your projects. For my card above, I've used some ledger paper, a hole punch to create a border, staples, paperclip and a post it note. So get creative and show us what you can do with your office supplies. Scrap that Poetry - New year

Hello all. Our first challenge for the new year is a poem called just that - New Year. So do you have photos from a snowy winter season or some photos from your new year that are just screaming to be scrapped?? Well then this is the poem for you! My layout is about the white christmas we finally had this year. It was fab being able to make a snowman on christmas day. The Boy's legs were more or less swallowed by the amount of snow we had, LOL. I used some old MME papers, the tag is from Basic Greys old Mortifica range and I used the sketch from Creative scrappers. So come on over and show us what you got up to at christmas/new year.

Mo Manning digital stamps! I've been admiring from afar and after much deliberation I bought a couple of "stamps". And I love them!!! It took me ages to choose which ones. I dint want to get too many incase I didn't get on with them so these 2 it was. For now! Angelina with balloons. I laughed out loud when I saw this one and it totally reminds me of my sister when we were younger. This one I am entering into the Basic Grey "dots and spots" challenge. I used Olivia papers. And this one... well, its just fab isn't it and of course its called Diva! I added some seed beads to the beads around her neck. I forgot to take a photo of the inside but there was a sentiment that said, "Nope, not me!!" This card was for my cousin who is in complete denail at turning forty! Sorry darling, but its true!!! LOL!

More yo yo's

This time they come courtesy of an old skirt of DD's I've stashed away forever. I loved the courderoy, the colour and the buttons that were on the front of it, and I've come to cut it many a time but always put it back again. Until now. I think the texture of the material really adds to these yo yo flowers. And I thought I'd quickly show you how I've made them. Start off with some circles of material. Remember that you will need your fabric to be twice larger than the size you want your flower. Then folding in the edge of your circle, start sewing to create a hem around the outside. I used a simple running stitch, pulling it through as you go. I suppose you might be able to do this with a machine but I found hand stitching just as quick. When you've gone full circle, pull the thread tight so the material gathers together into the centre. Because this material is quite heavy I added a few extra stitches to the centres to help them keep their shape. Finally add your buttons. These were the ones that ran down the front of the skirt. Very vintagey. Now I just can't decide what to do with them...

Scrapwhispers is BACK!

After soem time off over December, scrapwhispers is back with a fun new challenge - "Robots". Its as simple as that! But not only are back, we are holding a design team call! Amy Butler fabric

Just a little project I did for DD's hairclips. They show up in all kind of places and I got fed up with treading on them so I thought I'd have ago at making my own hairclip holder. All I did was take some of the gorgeous Amy Butler fabric and put it over a small canvas that I bought in Wilkinsons (pack of 3 for £3) and added two strips of plain ribbon so I can hang the clips on. I've put some of the yoyo flowers that I made yesterday on it. DD loves it so I've got to hang it in her room. We'll see how long the novelty lasts :)

Yo yo flowers

I was browsing in John Lewis' a few weeks ago and came across some gorgeous Amy Butler fabric. It was a touch pricey but I couldn't resist. I made a couple of things with it for christmas gifts but then I had a fair bit left over so I thought I'd have a go at these yo yo flowers that I've seen everywhere. They were a bit fiddly to begin with but I'm really pleased with the result. I used up some old buttons for the centres. I think I'll be making a few more of these. Very therapeutic at the end of a busy day.

Happy new year!!! I hope you all had a great christmas! We have had a busy few weeks, with mad dashes here and there, cross country and back again, but had a lovely christmas at home. We even got to make a snowman in the garden christmas morning, which is quite special because we don't usually have snow over christmas here. I just wanted to pop in and share my first card for 2011. I'm quite liking the clean and simple look at the moment. I stamped "a gift for you" sugar nellie stamp onto smooth white card, coloured her in with promarkers, added the sentiment, drew a line right round the outside with a fineliner and then inked the edge in pink. Before I attached it to a card blank I sewed on some irredescent sequins. I'm so used to having alot going on with my cards that I couldn't go completely CAS but it's nearly there! LOL Sorry about the poor quality photo, it is really dark here right now. I feel so much better now I'm crafting again. I'm finally getting some mojo in my bones!!
