Scrap it with a song - A project a day

Hello! Where has the time gone?? Can you believe its only 2 days til christmas?? Crazy how even though it starts earlier and earlier every year it just seems to creep up on you! Its my turn today to show you a little project that I've created for Christmas. I made these to give out as teacher gifts this year and they were very well received. I made a little felt bag by cutting a strip of pink felt 11 x 4", score it at 4.5" from either edge and then make a crease with a bone folder or scoring tool. The I cut 2 strips of blue felt 2 1/4" x 4 1/2" for the sides, and one strip of blue felt 1 1/2" x 12". I blanket stitched around the edges to give a more homemade feel to it and once I'd sewn on the handles I added a couple of buttoms to either side for added cuteness. I then printed out a copy of the snowman soup poem (that you can find everywhere on the WWW), cut it out, added some festive looking ribbon and pegged it to the bag. Next I filled the bag with 2 sachets of hot chocolate, a bag of mini marshmallows, some chocolates (some little biscuits would also work well) and a candy cane stiring stick. Pour it all into your favourite mug and sit, back, relax and enjoy the warmth! These bags were so easy to make, I made a total of 16 (we don't have that many teachers but I saved some back for friends) in roughly 5 hours. If you have a go, I'd love to see them!! You'll be forgiven for thinking Billy Joel for this weeks song choice - but it's actually the newest star on the block, Bruno Mars, who we are singing along with! This song is just sooo beautiful and has a great beat I couldn't help but love it instantly. The lyrics are just wonderful and of course offer alot of scrapability. This layout is obviously based on DD and I used the lines from the chorus. When she smiles the whole room lights up. She has an infectious smile and laugh. She was more than happy to pose as Alice! Scrap that Poetry - The tables Turned

I'm late in posting this, but we have a wonderful poem for you this fortnight at Scrap that Poetry. It can be interpretted in so many ways. I chose to stay literal with the poem and instead of using a photo I used a book that was created by DD. It's her new obsession and she will make a book a day with the most fascinating stories with full illustrations too! Its quite funny though because it's like looking at me all over again. When I last saw my Grandma she said its like living my childhood over, watching DD at work and in her features. So What will the poem inspire you to create?? Digi Bells Christmas card

Do you remember me telling you about the new Elizabeth Bell Designs challenge blog? Well there is a blog hop at the Digi Bells DT blog. The DT have asked us to make a christmas card using an Elizabeth Bell image. This super cute image of Willow, came from Whiff of Joy, but I'm not sure you can get it anymore. But if you're not familiar with Whiff of joy, you can be sure they have plenty more for you to agonise over, LOL! I decided on a tea light gift card. I've made a fair few of these recently. Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?

Scrap it with a song time again! This week we have the classic from Pat Boone, Winter Wonderland. This song just makes you warm inside thinking about christmas, doesn't it? Our sonspor this week is the Stamping Boutique, who have the most adorable digital images. I've used one of their digi stamps on my card. I used "Natalie" and I think she is just so cute. I teamed her with some papers from Papermania and a sentiment from Autumn Leaves stamps. Don't forget when you play along you can use any part of the song for inspiration, not just the title. Scrap that Poetry!

2 posts in one day! Shows I'm making up for lost time and catching up with my DT posting for Scrap that poetry! We have a fab poem this fortnight. Its A prayer for a great family. Its so beautiful how it says a big thank you to Mother Earth for all the beautiful creations around us. I took my inspiration from the "clouds, lakes, rivers" part of the poem. The photo was taken in Italy a few years ago at Lake Maggiore. I visited 4 of the lakes and they were just stunning! Not bad for a work training trip. Scrapwhispers november blog hop

Hello! Well, first an apology to those of you trying to find the blog hop post. I actually wrote all this out for the blog hop (a day late I must add) and ditsy ole me must have forgotten to press the publish key as I've just had a look and seen its not on the blog!!! Aarrrgggggghhh! All I can say I've had a horrible week with 2 children with a sickness bug and teething thrown in as well. Right, Onto the blog hop! I don't know why I thought it would be easier the second time round as me and numbers are just not friends, but my kids are my inspiration. I just want to be able to help them with their homework. Post it holders

Just a little project to share with you today. I'm getting ahead with making teacher gifts and I've decided to make some post it note holders to put in a gift bag as part of a teacher supply kit. You can find tutorials for this project all over the www. The ones I have made have a little slot for a pen (which I have bought and put somewhere nice and safe :P) The images I've used on these are from a digi stamp kit from Claudia and company, designed by Lori Boyd. They are just so adorable and are so much fun to colour. On the above one I coloured the black board in with cool Grey 4 promarker, went over it a few times to get it darker and then wrote on it with a white sukura pen These really are so much fun to make and are great for secret santa's or stocking fillers... and when you start you won't want to stop!

Elizabeth Bell's world

I've come across a fab new challenge blog for Elizabeth Bell's design's. I LOVE her work so it would be rude not to join in wouldn't it? The challenge was to create a 3x3 notelet box or tote using a tutorial from SCS. I chose to do the box. I haven't filled it yet because I can't decide what to put in it. I used an image from last years whiff of joy christmas collection. Decorated using the last of my BG wisteria paper and added some knicker lace! Sketches on a wet day

Today is the coldest, most miserable of the winter so far. It has rained literally all day so I've been stuck in with the boy. And I have to say, he has been an angel! He has been playing with his lego and puzzles while I have been crafting. I thought I'd join in a couple of challenges this week. A Gem of a challenge is asking for you to follow a sketch and a christmas card in non traditional colours. Isn't Sprinkles the fairy just too cute!!? I've used a mix of crate paper and dovecraft papers, a lace doily, some lace and some dew drops. You can't really see in the photo but Sprinkles has been stickled and I coloured her in using pro markers. I still need a bit of practice I think. I also thought I'd try Sketch Saturday this week. It's been ages since I've joined in but the sketch was perfect for my sisters birthday card. I'd had this image from Elzybells coloured and framed for a while but wasn't sure what to so with it. Doesn't it look lovely with these papers?! I used a mix of crate paper and prima this time, the frame stamp is from Papermania and again I've coloured in using pro markers. Thanks for stopping by. You've got a friend in me

This is a song I know very well! The boy is a big fan of Toy Story 2 and so if we are home he wants it on constantly. It is a fab choice of song for the challenge at Scrap it with a song, holding many possibilities for cards and layouts.

This me and the gang from when I worked in Spain. We used to have so much fun together. We laughed alot, cried a bit, wound each other up but we are still friends now even though it was just a summer job. In fact my roomie turned out to be the daughter of a childhood friend of my Uncle. Its a small world!!!

I also used some of the elements from this fortnights Mission Create. A tree (didn't get that one in), at least 3 butterflies (yep), rolled paper pieces (yep), twine (yep) and something from the $, or in my case the £shop (yep, the butterfly stamp). The sketch is one I used from Creative scrappers. Get on over and sing along with us.

Pencil lines Sketch

A random layout from me today. I did this today while the Boy had one of his VERY rare afternoon naps!! As I was browsing the net I saw this sketch from Pencil lines and I don't know about you, but as soon as I get an idea in my head I can't leave it alone til I do it. And today that idea was to sew on my layout. So there I was, stitching in rainbow colours, getting so carried away I was almost late leaving to get DD from school! A very simple layout that took a while. I really should learn how to use machine stitch on my cards and layouts!! I like how this turned out though, just as it was in my head. My only apology is for the poor photo quality, but thats what the lovely British weather does for you. Hope you like it. Have a fab weekend!

Time for something a little different

You know by now that every now and then I like to dip my toe into something out of the ordinary. One night while I was browsing on that internet auction site, I came across 10 french barrette hair slides for just 99p, so I bid and won. Even better, the postage was free. I also purchased some American craft Ruffled ribbon. LOVE this stuff!!!! Then while having a clear out I found an old tin of beads, and thats when the lightbulbs went off. I first sewed the ribbon onto strips of felt, then sewed on the different coloured beads, then hot glued them onto the hair clips. Giving me these vintage style hair slides. I think they look really pretty and good enough for stocking fillers. I did try to take a photo of one in my hair but unless I dislocate my arm I was fighting a losing battle, LOL. What do you think?

A red, red rose.

Today see's a new challenge for Scrap that Poetry and the poem is A red, red rose by that famous Scot, Robert Burns. A very pretty poem and many a scrappable lyric. I don't think my layout needs that much of an introduction. It's of the first ever bunch of red roses I recieved for Valentines day. So, of course that just had to be scrapped! Scrap it with a song - Its my life

Scrap it with a song are rocking out, this week, to none other than Bon Jovi this week! The song is "It's my life" and I guarantee you'll be singing for a while. I decided to make a card this week and focus on the line "I don't wanna live forever, I just wanna live while I'm alive". This quote from Fancy Pants Roadshow Collection was oh so fitting for it too! Its a right mish mash of a card. Nothing goes together but it just fits, if you follow that? The paper is from Crate paper, the ruched ribbon is my first attempt of the sort, and the pom pom ribbon is from John Lewis. Hope you will sing your heart out with us. Scrapwhispers - wish,dream,journey

Hello bloggerettes. I'm back home after spending the last week with my family down south. Its so good to be back. Its amazing how much you miss your own things. While I was away a new Scrapwhisper challenge was posted. This week we want you to use the words Wish, Dream or Journey on your layouts or cards/projects. Its that easy! I got greedy and used them all, LOL. This is my dd about 2 years ago at Halloween. Just goes to show how out of sync I am with scrapping my pics. Scrapwhispers - Black and white

We have got a corker of a challenge for you this week at Scrapwhispers. Black and white. Sounds easy, doesn't it? The twist is that you can only use either your photo or your elements and papers in black and white. My layout is a present for my Mum and Dad and is now in a shiny frame and everything. Its of them with DD and the Boy on the day of the kids baptisms. Its such a lovely photo and this is one of the nicer ones of my Mum. She doesn't normally do well in photos, bless her (She'll kill me for saying that, LOL) I've used fancy pants papers, a paper doily cut in half and th butterfly stamp is from Maya Road. Gems and letter stickers are just from my stash. I hope you give it a try, this is such a fun one. STP - There is another sky

Finally after problems with a computer virus I can finally post this fortnights challenge for Scrap that Poetry. The poem is "There is another sky" by Emily Dickinson and is one of my personal favourites My layout is based on seeing the Red Arrows wowing the crowd at an airshow earlier this year. It didnt matter that I was sat on a damp log, in the middle of a marsh, in the rain. These men know how to fly and how to make everyone's jaw drop! You have until October 30th to join in with us. Quick cards

Hello. I've got a couple of cards to show you today. It seems like ages ago i did a random crafty post. I've been making some cards to give to the school fete at christmas time. Its my donation to the school and seeing as it went very well last year I'm doing it again. This year I've been looking at different things to do and seeing as every wednesday I stalk the Splitcoast stampers website to see what I create. I found a tutorial for a drawer box. On the tutorial it shows just the box, but to be a bit extra I've stuck a card to the top. I've decorated this one with Basic grey kioshi papers and some ribbon. The image is also Basic Grey. The little drawer slides in and out pretty easy and makes a great gift/card all in one. Sticking with the gift card theme, I saw a lovely little tutorial on the Whiff of Joy inspirations blog for a Tea light gift card. Et Voila!! Sorry about the angle of the card. It looks quite odd, doesn't it. But its basically a box folded onto the bottom of a base card and an easel card fitted on top. The box holds up to 4 tea lights (these ones are vanilla scented and are just divine!) But I'm sure you could use the box to hold sweets or jewellery, a watch even... (because its thin) And even though they both look complicated, seriously, the hardest part is choosing what paper to decorate with!!! I'm off to make a few more before I get DD from school. Strike a pose

Time for another sin along with Scrap it with a song! This week we are singing along to Madonna's "Vogue". Love this song! I love Madonna, full stop! But seeing as my DD isn't one to start striking poses, she's much more a tomboy, I settled on the imagination part of the lyrics. And, boy, does she have one of those! At the moment she has 2 imaginary horses, a dog, She is very creative in her writing and story telling, so I had to focus on her imagination. In this photo we were at an indoor play area and out off all the princessy clothes she pulls out a builders costume and proceeded to "build" a shed. She stayed like this most of the day. I also did some recycling on my layout but using a clementine bag to mimic the builders material from the photo. So come on over and get Vogueing!

For my layout I chose to use the line "What this moment means to me" This was the boy's first christmas and DD was so happy to have him with us and of course helping him to unwrap his presents. STP - A rock, a river, a tree

Me again! I am so late in posting this! Scrap that Poetry's challenge this fortnight is in the form of the poem of "A rock, a river, a tree".A very beautiful poem with lots and lots of scrapability. My layout for this challenge is a very simple one. The photo speaks enough I thought. This is the view I had from my bedroom at my mum and dads house. I would love to wake up to this, the day breaking. This layout was also a reminder to NOT use rub-ons direct onto a layout that was almost completed. I love to hate rub on's. They either work too well or in this case, not well enough. Some of them just would not budge!! Go over and check out the blog for the poem. Happy scrapping!

Hi all, Sorry I've been MIA again. I've just had so much on and I've been unwell for a while, but I'm back on track now so it should be normal practice resumed! This weekend we were going to show the big reveal to the Scrapwhispers main Whisper game, but we've had to hold back for a bit while a couple of teams catch up. So in the meantime we have another fun challenge for you and a simple one at that. We want to see things that make you happy! Easy! I LOVE this photo of the Boy. His happy face just makes me laugh with him. No matter how cross I get I can't help but smile when he starts laughing. For this photo I hid behind a chair and jumped out on him. I then snapped him in full blown chuckle. I just wish you could hear it too. So there you go... If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands! :)

Warm up with Scrapwhispers

So are you starting to feel the autumn/fall weather coming now? We certainly are!! We have had some really blustery days here and theres no sign of it stopping. Today is really windy, there is not one cloud in the sky but boy, is it cold!! Our challenge this week for Scrapwhispers is all about the campfire. You can use camping photos or images, the colours of a campfire, any link you can find to give you that warm glow of the campfire. My layout is of DD in cold, windy french weather, while we were walking in the dunes. Lots of green, for the camping and orange for the fire. So come over and warm your cockles!! :0)

Scrapwhispers - The hidden mouse.

Hi all. Hope you've had a good weekend!? I'm really late posting this (so sorry!), I've just had some family stuff, and well you know how life can get in the way sometimes. This weeks challenge is just that. Terence Cuneo was a Military artist and in every picture he hid a mouse, only visable to those who went looking for it. So your challenge this week is to create a layout of a card and to include that hidden mouse. My layout is, of course, of the Magic Kingdom in Disneyland Paris and that mouse is there! (I apologise for the poor photo! Its pretty grim up here now) So come on over and get creative. See if you can spot the mice hidden in the DT creations.. ;)

STP: First Day of School - Eddie Garcia

Do you remember you first day at school? I do. I screamed the place down and my poor mother, how she must have felt leaving me. It was the first time she had ever left me with anyone. I was 5. So when DD started school I prayed and prayed she would not be like me and she would love going to school. My prayers were answered. In fact she didn't even look back!! She went right in, I called to her I'd be back later, and she just said "OK" and that was that. A breath of relief!!! Now a year later and she still loves going to school. Every friday she comes home and says that she has 3 sleeps til she goes back. I am going to cherish every minute of her loving her school days, because I hated mine so much! As you can see she was SO excited on her first day back and for going into a new year. I have used a mix of fancy pants and October afternoon papers and stickers for this layout, and an Owl badge that I found in paperchase. I am in love with their badges. Hoppin' and a boppin'

Hey all and welcome to the first ever Scrap it with a song BLOG HOP!!!! If you have come here first, head on back to the Scrap it with a song main page for the full details. This weekend MTV are hosting their awards to show their appreciation to some of the worlds top musicians and so in honour of these awards we are going to sing along to our favourites as YOU hop. I find it impossible to choose just one, single favourite artist or band, just beacuse I like so many different genre's of music. But for Reggae music, UB40 are my favourites. Sucha beautiful song with plenty of scrappable lyrics. Here is DD and The Boy. They are like this all the time... always together, and they don't like to be seperated. So this title is just perfect. I've used a mix of Crate Paper's Brook collection and MME Quite Contrary. Pretty different paper stacks but they just seemed to work somehow. Before and after

Hello. Me again. I'm a bit late posting this weeks scrapwhispers challenge. I've just had my neighbour here crafting with me. Can you guess what we did? Yep, a frame card... AND a matching envelope! We always have a lot of chat and laughs. Probably more than we craft... So onto this weeks challenge. This week we challenge you to show us the before and after. This challenge has taught me that I need to take more photos when I decorate, or when I get a new hair do... I found this realy tough.

Instead I chose to look at my Son's rapid growth from baby to boy. It just seems to have flown by! Obviously time is time but you know what I mean. Everyday he will say something new, or do a new action that reminds me time is precious. So what will you show us? Material Girl!!

Hi all, Just wanted to share a quick birthday card I did for one of my sister's. She is a total shopaholic and makes sure everyone knows what she's bought, where from and how much it was, so this card is her all over! Another frame card, these are seriously so quick and easy to do. The papers are from Papermania, the shopaholic stamp is from Sugar Nellie and the handbag one is from Hobby Art. I paper pieced the handbags to add colour quickly. I coloured the "Shopaholic" in using my new pro markers. I need plenty more practice I think.. I even decorated the inside, something I don't do often enough, with a sentiment from Penny Black. I added a little bit of my bargain basement lace and another handbag. It turned out that Sis had asked for a Handbag from my Mum so this card is even more fitting without even trying! Yay! Scrap that poetry - Ode to the end of summer.

So summer here in the UK leaves alot to be desired, mostly. for the whole of August its done nothing but rain... and I mean full pelt rain. We even had floods in some areas. So our summer ends when we finish up on our annual holiday away. So this layout to me sums up the end of our summer. This was the last day we had on the beach, DD was making sand angels and it was just bliss. The next morning we touched down on the runway to black skies and.... yup, rain! What will the poem inspire you to create? oh, and incase you're wondering, the kids go back to school tomorrow, its the beginning of Autumn and the sun is blazing... typical! :)

Time again to get a catchy tune stuck in your head :) Scrap it with a song has a Stevie Wonder classic for you to use as inspiration (and to sway along to) this week. For my layout I used fancy pants Roadshow papers, a doily that my neighbour gave me, BG 2 scoops rub-ons. The alphas, I'm not sure who makes them but they came from my local papermill shop.
