Scrapwhispers - Use it up!

I don't know about you, but I've always got alot of stickers and rub-on's laying around that don't get used. So this weeks challenge is to use them up! Use as many stickers or rub-on's as you can, preferably from the same sheet. I've used up my stickers from Basic Grey's Wisteria. I like this collection the least and so I was pretty happy to use up the stickers I've had layihg around forever. I know you've been waiting for a challenge like this one, so get your sticker sheets out or your rub on books and so use how many you can use on one project. Pile it on!!! I'm going to be away for a while in sunnier climbs but I;ve added some pre scheduled posts so you don't miss me too much :) See you soon xxx

Scrap that Poetry - Footprints in the sand

Footprints in the sand by Mary Stevenson is your inspiration for this fortnight over at Scrap that Poetry. A very beautiful and uplifting poem. As I read it it meant an awful lot to me, those of you who have followed me for a while will know that from another layout I did about my faith in God. I really wanted to scrap some pictures of my Baptism from 2008 but can you believe I do not have any!!! I'm really upset by that, but I am being confirmed at the end of the year so I will have to make sure someone will be able to snap me.

So I decided to use this photo of my footprint in the sand. I have used this photo before but its so lovely how could I not use it again. I also chose to use the whole poem as my journalling. It truly is such a beautiful piece that I couldn't choose a line from it.

Scrapwhispers Blog Hop!!

Its the 15th of the month so that means another Blog Hop from Scrapwhispers!! Our very talented Helen has set a tutorial for making your own background paper. If you have just popped in here, go back to the beginning, follow us through the hop so you can see how we all interpreted the technique. This is the patterned paper I came up with. I only have one solid stamp and one that would go over it... The stamps I used are Making Memories foam love stamps. This first one came out abit dodgy. The foam stamp kept slipping on the acrylic paint, so I tried it again on a different colour paper. And I think this one came out far better!! A bit more artsy and looking a bit distressed - in a good way! From here, pop on over to Leah's blog and keep going til the end. I hope we have inspired you to give this a go. Mini Album

This mini album started life as the humble toilet roll tube. I've made this for a friend (which is why there are no photos in it) I was suprised at how quick and easy this was to make. The longest part was persuading DD to let me have a tube, kind of a "one for you, one for me" type affair, as she takes them into school usually and creates rocket models with them. Because I was asked to do this for someone else, that was also the most challenging part. I'm thinking, what if she doesn't like it? what if she can't get the photos on it? have I done enough to it? I know I told her the size of it before I started and that the colours will be fine... but you know how it can be nerve wracking, right? I know you can't really over embellish it but I feel like something is missing. The gorgeous papers I used are MME Pretty please and aren't they just that?! There's a sliy bit of Kioshi from Basic Grey in there too. I cut the tags from some scraps I had left over. I don't think it's too bad for a first attempt. What do you think?

Scrapwhispers Challenge 67

When you got to an event do you keep hold of some memorabilia? Like tickets, a placecard, a leaflet, stickers? Well, at scrapwhispers this is what we want to see. Your layouts using some kind of ephemera (memorabilia). For my layout, I wanted to scrap DD's nativity play and I still had the words that she had to learn for it. The photos I have of the play are quite busy and they just didnt work at all. So in a lightbulb moment, I had one printed in black and white and the same photo printed in colour. I then cut DD out of the colour one, sanded around the edge with an emery board (nail file) and layered it onto the black and white one. Now my baby stands out from the 'crowd' :) I know you must be hoarding something from a concert, or a day trip to the zoo. Fold it!

I thought I'd have a go at Quixotic Paperie's challenge this week. I've been admiring from afar through Judy's blog and I've had a few bits to make that fit the challenge requirements. The challenge is to create something with more than one fold. So I chose to make a mini pizza box, gift box, for my Mum. The papers I used are Pink Paislee "Queen Bee" 6x6 pad, flat backed pearls - both from Quixotic Paperie. The feather and rub on were lurking around my stash and were put on as an after thought. The rolled roses were made from scraps I had left from the "Queen Bee" paper. And I made a card to match. Thanks for looking in!

Wanna have fun?

Morning! While I was browsing yesterday, I came across another challenge site called Scrap it with a song. And seeing as I love using music and Lyrics as inspiration how could I not give it a go?! And the song is one of my favourites to boot! The wonderful Cyndi Lauper's "Girls just wanna have fun". Doesn't it just make you want to dance? :) As soon as I read the song choice, I knew I had to scrap this photo of the Boy. He is always doing crazy, funny things, and one morning this is how he greeted me! Wearing a rudolph (red nose reindeer) nose. He made me laugh so much! All he wants is to have lots and lots of fun! Papers are a mix of October afternoon, Pink Paislee and Crate Paper, with some embroidery floss tied around the top. Thanks for looking in! I'm going to be singing this song alot today I can tell you, LOL.

I don't wanna miss a thing

I have actually managed to get a layout done for Scrapping the Music on time!! This is the first time I've been able to play along and I am thrilled to have made the deadline.. :) The song choice is Aerosmith's "Don't wanna miss a thing". A fab song by a fab band. They are playing at the O2 in London this month and I am gutted to not be able to go see them. I've wanted to since the late 80's. Hopefully they will come around again some time. My layout is a simple one of DD when she was about 2. I was always taking photos of her, from every angle beacause I really didn't want to miss anything she was doing. I've used up alot of mismatched alphas on this one. I got some crate paper "Brook collection" pp the other day. Its sooo gorgeous, I can't see me having it laying around too long!! The paper and the stickers are from that collection. Sooo pretty! I'm off shopping now, got DD's birthday cake to buy. Can't believe this little girl is 5 already... How it flies!

Scrap that Poetry - The Giving tree

Morning! Hope you all had a good bank holiday. This is my first challenge for Scrap that Poetry as a Design Team member and I'm sooo excited! The challenge is based on the poem "The Giving Tree" - by Shel Silverstein. It is such a beautiful and heartwarming poem with lots of prose to inspire. I;ve based the poem around my Boy, laughing all the summers hours away. The tree, I made from a scrap of BG Nook and Pantry paper and the 'leaves' are from bubble wrap painted with acrylic paint. I cut the bubble wrap too small so I had the idea of using the end of my craft knife to make the leafy bit, bigger. The apples were done the same way. I also used some October Afternoon- report card paper, scrap of MME, and letter stickers from DCWV. Click here to see the poem.
