Creative Scrappers #105

Morning all! Hope you're having a great weekend so far. I'm feeling a bit tired today. I went to see Alicia Keys in concert last night and that woman is seriously amazing! I was really suprised by the 'show'. There wasn't much balady piano playing as I'd imagined. A really great night! Only downer was even though I had clear view of her, I could not get one decent photo... but that gave me more time to actually watch the show. What have you been up to? Last week I played along with creative scrappers again for this sketch. I came up with this layout. But I'm really not happy with it. The photo is of DD having her first 'cocktail'... well more.. orange and Pineapple juice in a fancy glass. I wanted the layout to look a bit zesty, but I'm not sure on the paper I used. Maybe thats why I've had in an age! Its DCWV pocket full of posies stack by the way. With some scraps of Nook and pantry from BG. The letters are Doodlebug sugar coated. Supposedly self adhesive but they really lack the adhesive, so now my layout reads 'Ocktail' because the C fell off and I can't find it anywhere. The boy has probably buried in the coals of my fire or something completely boyish like that.. It's looking like we might get some sun today, so might get to go somewhere. Enjoy whats left! :)

What's new with you?

Happy Friday! Another week gone, so that means another fab challenge at Scrapwhispers. This weeks theme is "New". That's it! So what is new for you? Scrap stash? Home? Shoes? Baby?... The list could go on and on!! So much scope with this one. This week I chose to do a card, which is actually for one of my cousins who are getting married later this year. So in celebrating their "new2 life together I created a card using a "new" technique of rolled paper roses. Well, its new to me anyways. I've used a card blank that was already embossed from DCWV, then I printed a quote from the bible onto some Pink Paislee '365' cream paper, then with some scraps of blue Pink Paislee paper I made these roses, added some feathers and voila! These roses are really therapeutic, so if you haven't already then you really should give them a shot! There are lots of techniques all over the WWW. Jump on over to see what the talented design team have done with this challenge.

Mission Create

Mission create is one of those blogs where I have been wanting to join in but then the time just flies by and I never get anything in on time... but I have managed to do it!! I've had a few crafty nights so i've been able to get quite abit of scrapping done. Yay!! I made a card and a layout for this mission (#17). The elements to use are: Beads, use the colour brown, distressing, decorative edge paper and vintage item... Phew! So here is my card. The beads are on the pin, the brown is obvious, I've distressed the lollipop flower and I also rubbed an emery board over the papers, and on the cream I rubbed some tea dye ink over it. I made my own decorative edge by using Fiskars Apron Lace border punch and vintage item is the lace! Using exactly the same elements, this is the layout I created. I found this one a bit difficult for some reason. I used pins again with beads on, distressed the paper, added vintage lace (and a vintage photo :) ), a decorative edged journalling spot and one the flower I rubbed some tea dye ink over it to make it pop out a bit. Heres a close up of the flower. I cut circles from an old dress of DD's and frayed the edges a bit. So there we have it! I'm quite pleased with these and whats the best thing? I got to use up more scraps and things I've had stashed away for ... well... forever!! :) Let me know what you think xx

colour create- soft green and aqua.

I've had alot of Thank you's to make for the Boy's birthday presents, and this fortnight's colour create challenge gave me the perfect starting point. using little 4x4 notecards, some Pink Paislee - 365, a free stamp from a craft magazine and a button, this is what I got. As usual I coloured the image (isn't he a darling?) in with my inkpads but lesson learned, its best to not do it outside in the scorching hot sun! The colour went all patchy, so I'm not best pleased with the result, but will anyone notice?? Probably not! Thanks for looking x

New York, New York?

Morning all! I just want to share a "just because" layout. I've wanted to scrap this photo for a while now, but I had to get it scanned first. Finally got it done yesterday and couldn't wait to get started on it. I wanted to keep it simple so just some pretty punchy paper from October afternoon was just the ticket.

This statue was standing outside Christiania in Copenhagen and I was just mesmerised by it. Its made up of just sticks!!! How incredible is that? I have no idea if it is still there. I took this photo in 2001. Heres a close up.

It looks almost ghostly doesnt it? I wasn't really into taking photos then, so just as luck had it, it turned out to be a fab photo and a firm favourite.

It could be the title, the theme, genre, quotes, even the costume that inspires you! My layout is based on when I met the "Pink Panther" at Port Aventura Theme Park in Spain. Scrap that Poetry - A mothers Love

The latest chalennge poem at Scrap that Poetry is a lovely one. Its called a mothers love. For my layout, I used the sketch from Creative Scrappers again. It really is that lovely and I wanted to pretty it up a bit this time. The photo I used was taken about an hour after the Boy was born. I made it clear that my first visitor should be DD. She had to be the sole focus after a long day away from her. As soon as she came in she was mesmerised by her brother, and together we sat putting the puzzle together from the book I read to the both of them. It was such a special moment. Thanks for looking. x

Creative Scrappers - 103

Another fab sketch to follow from Creative scrappers. I've been wanting to do a layout about the achievements the Boy has done before his 2nd birthday but just wasn't sure on how to go about it. This sketch was the perfect source of inspiration. And seeing as he is 2 on Sunday, this came at just the right time too!! The photo of him, I just adore. DD took it!! I decided to use number down the side as part of my listed journalling. I used October afternoon papers. The alpha paper just seemed so appropriate for all of his learning. I think I have a smart little boy (excuse my brag :) )

Creative Scrappers sketch 102 - Sandboy

I'm back on a roll now! :) This sketch is from Creative Scrappers. As soon as I saw it I knew what photo I wanted to use. The boy, on the beach, eating sand! Yep! He is defiantely all boy :) LOL. I found the sketch to be perfect to use up my scraps - I still have a mountain... and I did promise pics once a many moon ago didn't I?! (note to self) The scraps are a real mix of DCWV, MME, BG and the ribbon is from the new Smirk range by Dovecraft (a bargain at just 99p for 3 mtrs). I hope you are having a sunshiney day like I am. We are off to the local farm now. Whatever you're doing, enjoy! Kel x

Scrapwhispers - Changes

Another week gone by, and another fantastic challenge is up at Scrapwhispers. This week we want to see your projects on change! How have you changed? Your kids? Your family? Your home? Are you determined to make a change to your lifestyle? What ever it is we want to see it!! There is also a little twist to this challenge. You must use an altered item on your projects, something you've stamped on, something you've covered with pretty paper or painted. Or, like me, I've used a leaflet that came in the post to make the lollipop flower. For my layout I've used October Afternoon papers and a scrap of lemonade paper from BG. The alphas are a mix of thickers and DCWV. We also have a very special guest designer and a fantastic sponser this month with the most amazing prize up for grabs.. Pop on over to see who they are!!! I guarantee there will be lots of oohing and ahhing!! ;)

Cute card Thursday

It seems like I haven't crafted or blogged for ages! It really is so good to have made a card. I always feel a bit lost when I haven't made anything for a while. My problem at the moment is that I have so many ideas and things I am actually doing but that i can't share just yet I can't concentrate on just one thing for too long. So today I've decided to chill out and have a go at some of the challenges out there. The first being Cute Card Thursday. The theme is boyz to men and I always have trouble making mens cards. But here it is. Cool Oakley from Whiff of joy stamps, complete with Basic Grey Origins papers and a couple of buttons to make a masculine card. I'm right into paper piecing at the moment, so I just had to piece Oakley's shirt and trousers using scraps from the Origins paper and a little scrap from the lemonade collection. The rest of him was coloured in using distress ink pads. Thanks for popping by. I'd love to know you've been so I can come and say Hi! Enjoy your weekend! Kel x

NSBD - Challenge 3

Now its time to dance around the Maypole. For those of you who don't know what this is, Its a pole which has different coloured ribbons coming from it and traditionally people hold the end of a piece of ribbon and dance around, weaving in and out of each other. The challenge for this one is to create a layout using 7 different ribbons. This is my layout based on how I feel about the Boy. He really is just such a little burst of rainbow colour!! So much more than a ray of sunshine. Come and join in the "dance"

NSBD Challenge 2

Next we are visiting the Bric-a-Brac stall. This challenge has been set byt Julie Kirk. She says that a picture paints a thousand words but she is challenging us to record an actual conversation!! How fun is that?? This is one thing I know I should really do more often, especially since DD and the Boy come out with the most funny, cute, adorable sayings and takes on life! This is a little "interview" I did with DD. She actually chose the questions too! Cheater! LOL

NSBD at ScrapWhispers

We are having a May Fayre themed day over at scapwhispers, with lots and lots of fun challenges to keep you very busy for the whole weekend!! Our first challenge takes us to the fortune tellers tent. We want to see your layouts based on the sketch I created: With a twist.. We want to know what you think will happen to you in the future. Could be something happening tomorrow, or next week, or how you see life panning out in 10 years time. Maybe what you want for your kids, grandchildren... This is my layout based on this challenge and my sketch. Que sera sera. I would like to be back at work, have more money, be more healthy and lose a stone by next year. We will see! I made the little flowers with my heart punch, The papers I used are from Graphic 45. Come over and join us. I promise you will have tons of fun at the fayre!!!
