Glitterball!

Scrapwhispers is back with a new challenge!! We are going to be having a relaunch next week, so in the meantime we are hosting a "just for fun" challenge, just so you're not left waiting too long! Challenges are also changing to a friday instead of a Sunday giving you plenty of time to play along (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) This weeks challenge is Glitterball. We want to see glitter and sparkles on your projects. The title of my layout kind of gives it away, but I got to see Beyonce last year. In these photos she was wearing a glittery, gold dress. And she stood still long enough for me to get a photo! So I just had to frame them. I used Papermania's "Chatsworth" frame stamps, and heat embossed them with Gold Tinsel embossing powder from Heat it Up. The paper is DCWV All Dressed Up. So thats your challenge. Come and show us your sparkly layouts, cards, altered items. Don't forget we are taking sign ups for the main Scrap Whisper!!

The Boy AKA Mister

I did this layout based on a sketch on Creative Scrappers but its not a challenge one... though I thought it was at first (that'll teach me to read things properly!) Anyway, its about time I started being brave and scrap The Boy's photo's. This photo was taken when he was around 5 weeks old and was still known as Mister. I couldn't decide on a name until I had to register him, and even now he is mostly called Mister by pretty much everyone! The papers are a mix of my scraps of BG Marrakesh & lemonade, K&co Hopscotch Boy, and DCWV Nana's kids.

Creative Scrappers - Sketch 98

I've just found creative scrappers challenge blog and I'm in love with the sketches! This is the latest sketch, #98 What I love about this sketch is the clean lines and the single column focus. I recently rediscovered my photo albums from when I lived abroad in various places, and one of those places was Copenhagen, Denmark. Of course I did the touristy things but The Little Mermaid is one of the tourist attractions that I would visit on a regular basis. She would always be surrounded by people from all over the world taking her photo but there was always such a serene air about her. I used to love sitting on the rocks looking out to sea and getting my thoughts together. I've really tried to capture that serene feeling in my layout by using BG Wisteria, Graphic 45 Baby to Bride papers, BG Eskimo Kisses alpha stickers and my scraps of BG porcelain and Eskimo Kisses papers to make the lollipop flowers. The border punch is Fiskars Apron Lace. If there was one place I could go back to, Copenhagen would definately be it!! Maybe one day... (drifting into daydream mode..... :) x

As promised- DD's card

This card took my DD hours to make! Bless her, she tried so hard with these ribbons, trying to get them to stick with a glue stick then decided a stapler would be better. Then she flipped it over and on the other side is a 'button garden' (in her own words). Here, she had asked if she could use my glue, of course I said yes without realising she meant my stickles!! I think the placement of the buttons is well on the way to being a modern masterpiece.. but then I would say that wouldn't I?! :)

Whiff of joy colour create

DD and I are still crafting and I was hoping to be able to show you DD's creation but its still in the creative process... i.e DD is having a whale of a time rifling through my papers, ribbons and anything else she can find while she thinks I'm not looking! So in the meantime heres a card I'm entering into 2 challenges: Whiff of Joy - Sketch and Colour Create - Lilac, grey and white. I've used Shy Willow and Cool Oakley for this and instead of doing them in the usual rectangle box I thought I'd cut them out and pop them up on foam dots. Not sure I like it but its a bit different to my usual. The papers are from BG Wisteria (I have to say it, they are not my favourite BG collection) and there is a piece of white flocked vellum that I picked up donkeys years ago. I had a go at paper piecing Willow's dress too with some Wisteria scraps. Thanks for looking Kel x

Cinema Saturday - Sense and Sensibility

HI! Hope you are all enjoying sunshine where you are. Its a beautiful day here today and I think its set for the weekend too (fingers crossed!). We are sat in waiting for a parcel today so DD and I have been doing a little bit of crafting. I've joined in this weeks cinema Saturday challenge, with the inspiration coming from Sense and Sensibility.This is a film I have always wanted to watch but just have never got round to it. Another book I'd like to read as well... Maybe sometime soon. But this card is based on the romantic side of the novel/film. The beautiful backing paper is Graphic 45 Baby to Bride collection. Isn't it just so elegant and vintage looking? Love it!! The required element for this weeks challenge was to make a card thats clean and simple. So all I have done is wrap a piece of white organza ribbon around the PP and then attatched a ribbon rose (my first go at handmaking one of these) thats been wrapped in a pretty lace. I stamped the word 'wedding' in Tattered Rose distress ink to keep in with the vintage and romantic theme. So here you have it. Card Patterns - Sketch 58

I've been following card patterns for a while now but this is first go at one of the sketches. Simply because when I get round to it, I've usually missed the deadline :) So I'm pleased to say I'm on time this time, LOL This card is much less fussy than my usual style of card, and I've managed to use up some more of my scraps (yay!). I even dug out a stamp that has just been laying there begging to be used and that I've had for about 3 years! Its a beautiful Damask background stamp so I think it may be shown again soon. I added some plain pink card and some Doodlebug design spotty paper, a plain black strip of grosgrain ribbon and the lollipop flower is made from scraps of DCWV and BG papers. The Belated Birthday sentiment stamp is another of my hoardings but I really can't remember where it is from. Thanks for looking Kel x

Scrap that Poetry - An easter flower gift

I've come across another challenge blog, which challenges you to find inspiration in Poetry. I've always loved reading and writing poetry, so I've really enjoyed reading through some of the past challenge poems. The latest challenge for Scrap that poetry is An Easter Flower Gift by John Greenleaf Whittier You can check out the whole poem here but I have chosen to use a single word "Bloom" as my title. I love this pic of DD. So gentle and carefree and it was taken at the time when she was really starting to bloom into a little girl, talking in sentances and everything! I used MME Bloom and Grow (yep, I still have some left!) the title stickers are Basic Grey 'porcelain' and I've used my dymo to add to the title. The orange stamped flowers are from the BG 'Origins' clear stamp set (I love this set), I've done a little bit of doodling as well. Thanks for peeking in. Kel x

Just because...

I had a few "me" moments yesterday and decided that I really should scrap seeing as its been a little while since I've done anything of the sort. Mind you this layout came together in all of about 20 minutes. The photo is of "Snow Patrol" in concert in Liverpool last year. They were so amazing that the photo just had to be scrapped even though its not too clear. To me, they were the kind of band you think you won't know many of their songs then you realise that you watch too much telly soap operas & dramas that play their music all the time (for me: Hollyoaks. Yep, I love it!) So I thoroughly enjoyed the gig and can't wait to be able to see them again! I found a sheet of "Clay" paper from BG Mortifica range, I thought not much needed to be done to it, it was pretty edgy and rock styley all by itself so i just cut a piece of Sultry paper, also BG, to put at the back of the pic to lift it up a bit, then using a fine liner I traced round an old thickers alphas sheet to spell out Snow Patrol and then my journalling - which isn't a novel I'm sad to say. So its easy to see why it wasn't a struggle putting this together but I feel strangely relaxed from just being able to scrap! Do you ever get like that?? :)
