Scrapwhispers #56 - Scooby Doo!

"Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you?!" Sorry, I am so late at posting this weeks Scrapwispers challenge. I've had some kind of illness that has so far lasted 8 weeks, but this weekend gone I was hit with what felt like a sledgehammer. On the mend now, thankfully. So, onto this weeks challenge. Its a corker! Scooby Doo is the inspiration we have given you this week. There is so much scope for this challenge. Funky Colours, hippie themes, the mystery machine, scooby himself... the list is endless. I made a card for this challenge. The stamp is from Penny Black, and I decided on a New Job card, as, well, scooby and the gang are always on a job aren't they? The paper I used is from October Afternoon and it fits perfectly with the colours from this show. Come and show us what you can Doo! :)

Scrapwhispers Challenge #55

Another fab challenge up for you on Scrapwhispers. This time its a "Novel Concept". We want you to show us your favourite Childrens book. It could be one you had as a child, one you like reading to your child or grandchild, niece, nephew. Or it could be a whole bundle of titles that you like for various reasons. My layout is based on my favourite book as a child, "Dear Zoo" by Rod Campbell. I always loved this when I was a little girl. I remember my mum reading it to me, finding it in the school library and being able to read it myself. I think it was the anticipation of what "pet" the zoo would send next and lifting the flaps to find out, that did it for me. When I saw this book in a local bookshop I knew my kids should have it. Both of them love it, and we have so much fun when we read it together. I love it that my kids love it as much I remember I did. So whats yours? Come and show us!

Faith

I just wanted to share a layout I have made about my renewed faith. I went to a church school and I had something terrible happen to me, but instead of being treated like the victim I was I was made to believe it was my fault. I was only 8 years old and I didnt really know much better. So from this I started to resent God, His church and anyone who was a part of it. I felt threatened, I suppose, with a little bit of hatred mixed in. I felt I had been let down by Him and his Church. Over the years this thing had been eating away at me and when I had my children to a Catholic man I had tough choices to make. Do I allow them to be Baptised or not? It was a real struggle and after all those years I decided it was time to lay it all to bed. I had to move on, for my children. For me. I realised it wasn't God at all, I should be angry with, it was the person he put his trust in, the Priest. The day I had my children baptised was a very emotional day for me. On that day, I decided it was my time too, to give myself to God as I had given my children to him. So with the help of a wonderful lady, and at the age of 30 I had myself Baptised. I am still learning alot and I have had alot of support from this lady and I am now preparing to be confirmed with my daughter, when her time comes. I feel so much happier in myself and even though I don't make it church every week, I know I have his spirit with me always.

Candy Canes

Do not adjust your viewing. You are indeed looking at a christmas card in February! Winter Wonderland have got a blog hop going on along with the challenge of Candy Cane red and white. just before christmas I was rushing like mad to get my cards made, so I think I am going to try to get one done a week throughout the year so then I have a stash done by next christmas. So this is my entry into this weeks challenge. The stamp is Whiff of Joy from the Winter Kit, with some Basic grey and MME red and white papers. the lace, feather and roses are from my stash. Scrapwhispers challenge 54

Spring is springing in a bit early over at Scrapwhispers this week! The challenge this week is "Flower Power". Use lots and lots of flowers on your cards, layouts or projects. Here is my DT layout. The photo is of DD playing around as "Snow White" so I couldn't resist doing a little woodland scene. This took me hours! I'm very pleased with the result though. I tried to count how many flowers I had used and drawn but I lost count after 50! The little Owl up in the tree is another badge from Paperchase, just fixed on with 3d foam dots.
