Card Challenges

I just thought I would enter into a couple of card challenges. This is a card I made for Sketch Saturday. I really liked this sketch and I dont really make boy cards but i really enjoyed making this one. This second card is for the basic grey card challenge. Again a fab sketch and I love using all things basic grey. The papers I used for this one are from The sultry and porcelain collection.

Challenges!

Hello! Happy Tuesday! Over at Georgina's Blog, she set a "Book of Me" challenge. With more of a journal idea than a scrapbook. I have recently started doing some pages of myself in 12 x 12 size but sometimes I feel a bit lost and a bit vain really, so when I saw this challenge I knew it would be perfect for me as I wouldnt have to use photos if I didnt want to. Also what is ideal is that it can be done at your own pace and that you dont have to use all of the suggestions if you dont want to. I decided I would use 6x6 and that I would just go with whatever came into my head for colour, titles etc. I also plan on raiding my big box of scrap paper to use some of it up. Its a bit like the black hole. Think Mary Poppins bag. Never know if you'll lose an arm. LOL :) This weeks challenge was to "Release your Inner Child!" Here is my take on this: I listed 5 things that I still love from my childhood. When I read the title of this challenge, the first thing to pop into my head was "Oranges and Lemons"! No idea why or how but there was my colour scheme for the first page. They arent colours I would ever normally use either. Its funny how the creative mind works though, isnt it? But go and check out the challenge here and maybe join in the fun! Another challenge for the week and also another set by Georgina (who is one busy lady!! :) ) is over at Scrap Whispers. This is a fabulous challenge Site where a LO gets passed around members of a team for each person to lift. When it gets to the end we get to see the big reveal and to see how the original layout has evolved from the original. It is based on the game Chinese Whispers, which I am sure everyone will have played as a child at some point. It is really fascinating how the layouts change over the course. The next round has already started but there are weekly challenges to keep everyone busy and out of trouble. This weeks challenge is to use every colour of the rainbow! As soon as I saw the challenge title I knew exactly which photo to use and exactly how I wanted it to look. And I am very pleased with the result. I used up scrap pieces of ribbon I had laying around and scrap pieces of paper from my big box of scraps I rarely dip into. If you fancy a challenge then have a look here. Ta ta for now!! Kelly x

I found it!!

I started this counted cross stitch 2 years ago!!!, Since then I have moved house twice and "lost" it in the process, but tonight I found it lurking in a box under my bed! I really should unpack my stuff better. Now I just need to find the pattern....

Something from the weekend

I was actually going to post this on Saturday but I have spent most of weekend trying to fathom out this blogging lark!! I mean its not rocket science but it still had me baffled. So I first have to thank Georgina for her "Beginners Guide"! Last week I ordered 9 stamps from pink gem designs and they arrived on friday. As sson as I opened the packet I couldnt wait to get started! The stamp designs are super gorgeous and so cute that I spent alot of friday and the weekend making cards with them. The hardest part was knowing where to start. I mean I had 9 stamps to choose from and each one produce a flood of inspiration. So I decided I would stamp each image, colour them in and then go from there. All of the images are coloured using my brush marker pens as watercolours. I put the colour onto an acrylic block and then used my paintbrush to pick up the colour. This was the first card I made from the set. I loved this image so much as when I was colouring her in I realised how much "Mimi" resembled my little girl. DD even had a coat and hat the same style. Without much thought I had coloured her in with the same golden colour hair and the hat and coat in brown, as DD once had. So this card was an even bigger joy to make. I added some Basic grey paper from the Porcelain collection and some old lace I had. I made the flower embellishment by punching a flower shape from an old book I found in my loft and sewing on a button. I really like the vintage feel it gave the card. The next one I made was this Fairy Mimi card. I loved colouring her in. I used stickles for her fairy wings and crown. This image screamed to me "enchanted garden" and I found that the Basic grey Sultry papers fitted perfectly. Again I used some lace (found on a top I had never worn) and some fabric flowers. I have decided to enter this card into the ABC Challenge. This weeks challenge is G for Glitter, so I thought the glittery wings would be just the thing. This is my first card challenge since blogging, so I am really keen to have a go! This card I made for my neice who is going to turn 4 this month. She is so very girly and this image reminded me of her. I used some papermania scalloped card for the backing and a little strip of Basic Grey paper, lace and a paper flower with a button sewn on. I wanted this on to be quite simple and I am sure my neice will love it!

After all of these girly cards I should show a boy card shouldnt I? I love this Pirate Jack!! I had so many ideas for him but I couldnt resist making a treasure map to go along with him. I used Basic Grey again, this time from the Eva collection, I added a torn edge which I thought worked perfectly and sentiment which was made from using Doodlebug Simply sweet mini rub on's. And so there we have it. I have made so many more which I will add, I just didnt want to overload, but I cant wait to share with you. I am so very happy with my stamps. Quick card

OK, I'm back. I just wanted to share a quick card I made for my Grandma's birthday. I absolutely love my Grandma to bits! She taught me all things creative, like knitting, sewing, cross stitch and crochet (although I never got to grips with the crochet). She loves Owls, which I find odd seeing as she doesnt really like anything that flaps, so when I saw this cute little badge set in paperchase I just knew it would be perfect for her. I cut the tree shape from DCWV'S Family stack and used some gorgeous Basic Grey paper as a background, added some flowers and a quote to sum up my Grandma and voila!! A pretty (and quick) birthday card. I just hope she likes it!

Hello!

Well, who would have thought it? Me, with a blog! I've been wanting to do this for ages but I also kept thinking who would even read it if I did have a blog?! Well, I guess I'll find out soon enough wont I? I plan on using my blog page to show off my card making and scrapbooking creations, along with any thing else I might fancy flinging on here. Just a whole heap of randomness. Well thats all for now, until I can work out what to do next! lol :) ta ta for now
